Military Hero
After joining the Connecticut Militia, Arnold quickly rose in the ranks of the Continental Army, becoming a trusted friend of the Commander-in-Chief himself, General George Washington. The Continental Army represented another way for Arnold to advance himself and his reputation. Yet, there was good cause for his eventual advancement to Major General. Before his treason, Arnold was a true hero of the American Revolution:
- Capture of Fort Ticonderoga, 1775
- March to Quebec "Kennebec Expedition", 1775 (Wounded in his leg)
- Battle of Valcour Island, 1776
- Hero of the Battle of Saratoga, 1777 (Wounded in his leg)
